Silk Garden is probably the best bar on Pub Street! Generally speaking I tend to fall into avoiding Pub Street like the plague, but there is the odd place there that I enjoy (Cozy Bar) and others I go but don’t really like, like Picasso.
To read about the legend that is Cozy Bar click here.
Silk Garden is located on one of the backstreets of Pub Street and is literally next to Cozy Bar, in fact the easiest way to get here is to literally walk through Cozy bar to get here.
What is the vibe at Silk Garden?
It’s funny little place in that it is on two floors and is open plan, now this sounds like a great idea until you factor in that ir rains an awful lot during rainy season in Siem Reap.
To counteract this they have blinds that can be drawn when the rain starts, or this does mean a comical affair whereby everyone has to move their tables along whilst it rains and then move back when it stops. A bit of a pain in the ass, but kinda part of the vibe too.
Live music at Silk Garden
I was never much into live music before I came to Siem Reap, but hey it has started to grow on me. The music here tends to be pretty cool and most importantly not overbearingly loud. When there isn’t live music they have a DJ that seems to know what he is doing at least!
What else do I need to know?
They have a pool table! And it is usually so busy that it takes a “winner stays on” standpoint. A great way to show off your pool skills and make new friends.
And the prices….
They charge $7.50 for a beer tower, you really can’t say fairer than that. It is also surrounded by Indian restaurants and on the night we were there a bunch of Malaysian-Indians were having party, so we got fed some truly epic food!!!!
If you want a decent local, rather than tourist vibe then Silk Garden Siem Reap is the best bar on Pub Street
